What is the Republican Strategy for South Texas?

Gerrymander!

Texas Republicans have chopped up the 15th Congressional District by carving Hidalgo County into three separate districts to dilute the vote of Hidalgo County democrats. It worked. Now, and for the rest of decade, the 15th includes parts of Karnes, Live Oak, Jim Wells, Wilson and Guadalupe Counties, all Republican strongholds. Those are counties where Republican Congresswoman, Monica de la Cruz won in 2022. She lost Hidalgo County.

How do Democrats take back the 15th?

Through action and grassroots activism.

We have embarked on a community-based movement in South Texas to reclaim rights and privileges which right-wing Republicans have dismantled.  This goal will not succeed if we rely exclusively on Democratic Party politicians to carry the torch.  We must decide that we care enough about the future of this state, and its men, women and children, to help carry that torch.
